This is just like, you pay more attention to people in your own group, and you tend to mimic them. But still, why? Why would i mirror what i'm paying attention to? Isis this an important thing do? Right? Sothat this gets into a lot fuzzier territory just to state that up front. Andrew has this idea that maybe if yawns promote attention and arousal and vigilance, the spreading of that action pattern through contagion might help to increase over group alertness.

People yawn when they’re bored, right? So then why do athletes yawn before races? And why do so many animals yawn? … And why does reading this paragraph make you more likely to yawn?
