Paying Writers Directly Is a Good Idea
i worry that journalism is underpaid, and that must disincentivise good writing. I think a lot of the economic problems would be solved if the writers were to sell directly to the readers. The natural unit of paid content is the article, it's not the subscription. i don't terribly want to subscribe to a publication for a year in the hope that another piece by soot will come up in due course. So i look forward to a time when we can buy articles rather than subscriptions. Then i think we've got a really healthy and very convenient te the set.
