Is the BBC Too Big?
From the very early days, it was primarily funded through a levee paid by those who bought radio receivers. There's also a commercial arm which sells bibision content to overseas broadcasters and streamers. It is big, david elstein, too big? No, i don't think so. The b b c is constrained by its funding mechanism, which is primarily the license fee. Which is always a political hot potato for governments when they set the license fee,. But in principle, there's nothing to stop the b vc being rather more expansive, rather more inventive and creative.
