The Environmental Benefits of GMOs

In the last 20 years, since the introduction of GMO-based agriculture, GMOs have actually reduced pesticide applications by 8.6 percent and also help increase crop yields by 22 percent. We're able to reduce pesticide use because we now have genetically modified crops that have their own inherent insect resistance. And we're also able to improve yield and reduce tilling of fields because now we have crops that are herbicide tolerant. These ultimately, the reduction of tilling actually benefits bee populations and pollinators. So, in reality, there are many environmental benefits actually associated with GMOs.
