By design, a lot of the editing is supposed to be invisible and you're not supposed to feel the cuts. But then there are some cases, like Bob Fossey's movies or Sam Peck and Pauss movies, where that rule is not always true. Sometimes you do want to feeling the cuts for a certain amount of impact. So it's very interesting how you change the styles within a movie, which goes right back to Whiplash in a way.
