Thomas Midgley invented a chemical that was completely harmless it was designed to be completely harmless he actually designed it so it could not be broken down. chlorofaricarbon which is never existed on earth before and because it was completely harmless couldn't be broken down made it all the way to the upper atmosphere above the ozone layer where ultraviolet light ripped it turned into a monster and it destroyed a life on earth by the way poor old Thomas Midgley. He also figured out if you could make a petrol cars run better if you added lead to the petrol what a legacy yeah well as Neil Ferguson the historian says the only real law of history is the Law of Unintended Consequences
