I think the earliest we'd see a real reopening is probably indeed the 22nd of January. More likely I still think is the time at March after the two meetings are over. That once those are finished, there would be a lot of less political pressure to keep lockdown in place and more incentives to really begin opening up. These protests haven't stopped altogether. I saw at Nanjing Tech there was another protest after they locked down the campus after just one case of COVID.
