When couples are very distressed, and most of the couples coming to see me in theripy are, they're often very disregulated. So instead of being calm and open and kind and all that good stuff, and centred and mindful,. we get mindless, reactive, et cetera. In fact, i made up a term, so i'd like to sort of make up terms sort of capture some of these things. I call it the five dises of unhappy couples. Emotionally stirred up. Disempowered - don't know how to get through to each other. Blame game - blaming your partners disrespectfully is a huge part of it. Vulnerability cycle -
