The Origins of the Marn Grooke
In ancient Rome, there was a version which was a little more like rugby that the Roman politician Cicero described. There is an Australian version called Marn Grooke, which is an Aboriginal game. The earliest historical account is from an 1878 book by Robert Bruce Smith. And some historians have theorized that MarnGrooke was one of the origins of Ozzy Rules.
