Shakespeare's Rome: The Tyranos
The central theme of shakespearian tragedy is the tension between a single great individual and the community he both serves and defies. Shakespeare takes us back to the original greek meaning of the word tyrannos, which basically meant a self made man. And i show in my book, shakespeare's rome, that antony behaves like a tyrant. It is striking how impressive these pretty awful tyrants are.
