Australia and China in the US Domestic Political Debate

Australia already has a free trade agreement with China. So it seems like a logical next step to negotiate one with Taiwan. Australia does sell its naval ships through the Taiwan Strait, although it does not say so publicly. The US-China relationship has been fraught for a long time and is potentially getting worse even now. A lot of hostility from Beijing to Washington is good for camera right now in that the United States is trying to hold China back technologically.
