There are two things at play here that might be intention at a certain point, but now i think i'm starting to get it. On the one hand, you have what is the biological explanation for why people might differ along certain dimensions? And having cross ces evidence can cast a lot of light on that question. Then there's this other question: What do you want to know about a person when you're describing them to distinguish them for another person? Those are two really different questions, and might have very different kinds of answers,. or might produce very different models for for answering those questions.
