The Importance of Critiquing Ultra-Processed Food
For a low-income household to eat a healthy diet, they would need to spend between 60 and 70% of their household income on food. The UK spends less on food than any other country apart from the states because everything else is so expensive. Food industry are going to be very skillful at casting me and all my academic colleagues that agree with me as misogynist or stigmatising people who live with diet-related disease. Industry actually have a very limited ability to fix the problem. People who can fix the problem are doctors and government who must act as regulators.
