I didn't join the IES for a career. I joined for an opportunity because even by that time, I remember vividly thinking actually, politics is not an option. It certainly gave me a ringside seat and therefore a much deeper understanding of our system and society while I worked. And many people believe that my results were pretty out of the ordinary. The bar in India is so low that almost anybody who applies himself or herself a little bit appears to be outstanding.
