Commuting Can Make a Difference to Your Mental Health

There's a part of your brain called the hippocampus which is important for both storing new memories, but also in terms of spatial navigation. So when you put yourself in different environments, whether it's commuting or just getting out of the house and doing something a little bt different, it really makes a difference in sort of tagging memories. And there was an incredible study done before the pendemic on the london tube, where they got volunteers to agree to either do the normal commute or to talk to a random stranger on the way in or out of work. What they found was, when people did talk to a stranger, they enjoyed their commute more. They found it less tressful.
