She could passively wait around for that to happen or she could more aggressively seek to make that happen. She needs to widen her network in the organization beyond this boss who may or may not be able to change his behavior and help her in the future. The key though in her 360 degree advocacy is for her in no way to diminish her current boss to share her problems with him with others.
