Echo 2: The First Relay Satellite
Echo 2 was a much more engineered balloon. It inflated using a similar sublimation method, but here's the biggie. Echo 2 was rigid, or at least semi-rigid. This is where we get into wild engineering that I only partially understand. The moral of this project is that even simple things get complicated in space.
