The Importance of War in the Cold War
In the mid-70s there was a very real and present existential possibility of the planet annihilating itself through a nuclear exchange between the Soviet Union and the west. The other thing that we might need to give another century is weapons of mass destruction which it's sort of a bit uncool to worry about at the moment because we don't feel like there's a cold war on.
