In the Matthew version, that all seemed to happen immediately. The next day is when they come back and it's like, wow, I thought it looked bad yesterday. It's destroyed by today. But I do love the detail that we see here in Mark that it was dried up from the roots because hypocrisy is a root problem. It's down deep. It's in the heart. And if it's driedup from the roots, then there's no way that it's accessing the water that's supposed to nourish it. This fatal fall because of its own hypocrisy.
