The NHLPA Is Getting a New Executive Director, Marty Walsh
Julian Zelizer: The salary cap discussion is probably the most pressing. He says players are still repaying an escrow debt to the owners that was incurred during the pandemic. As long as that debt exists, the cap is supposed to go up by no more than $1 million he says. Zelizer: Gary Bettman has to be under some degree of pressure from the owners and general managers to have the cap go up.
