The Impact of Terman on Stanford University
Stanford on the Cold War, this was Silicon Valley's first wave of innovation. By 1966 over a third of the research funding for electronics and engineering was for classified projects inside of Stanford. The student riots forced out all classified programs from inside Stanford in 1968. Terman encouraged graduate students to start companies. He encouraged professors to consult for these companies. And he made technology and IP licensing easy.
