The Purpose of Road Blocks in Malavi
The official version in malavi is that the state uses the road blocks not to cause inconvenience, but rather to maintain law an order. State agents will say, you know, we are here to to prevent smuggling. We know it's rampant, to stop all the bandits that are there. And and so a big part of the kind of legitimacy of the presence of road blocks, i's always defended in terms of security risks.
