The Impact of Bitcoin Mining on the Energy System
Carol Master: Solar generates during that late afternoon peak of 6pm, but we are now seeing that peak net demand happen when solar comes offline 8 to 9pm. She says this is creating an opportunity for storage in a well-defined time window where high prices are expected. Masters: Bitcoin mining also puts a lot of demand on servers and there's an interesting connection here to Urkott. The trend in AI models is the bigger is better - it's actually just an amazing success story.
