When he was in medical school, Dr Richard Boulden learned how to program. He then wrote books on some of the concepts that helped him learn more about medicine. In his job as a house officer at The Royal College of Surgeons, he also developed palm pilots for doctors and nurses so they could do their own ward round notes with less paperwork. When he finished his hospital job last July, he thought it's not hard to publish a book but publishers didn't think there would be a market.
