The Dutch Preparation for the Invasion of Taiwan
In early 1660, there are rumors of an imminent invasion. The Chinese sit-less on Taiwan believed it. And they were moving their goods and money back to China. So the Dutch took it seriously. They dispatched a ship to the VOC headquarters in Batavia asking for help. But he's got ambiguous orders, really. Protect Taiwan from any possible invasion from Koshinka or failing that threat try and take Macau from the Portuguese. Do you want to take Macau? Yes. It would psychologically represent a surrender of failure. If Koshinka had come a year earlier, they might have been better prepared.
