Do You Think Trump Is a Federal Employee?
I think DOJ had to take the position that Trump was an employee who was covered, because the question here is sort of Donald Trump versus every other federal employee now and in the future. There are good reasons for the protection for federal employees. I don't know about you, but I got sued more than once while I was US Attorney, in cases that were ultimately dismissed as frivolous by judges. But it was always good to know the United States government would step into my shoes and I wouldn't have to spend personal resources defending those sorts of frivolous claims.
