The History of Hispaniola

In 16 forty, the french and dutch colonists agreed to start fortifying the island. From that point onwards, they're able to hold it permanently. After 16 55, the english try to formally extend their authority over the island. And what you end up with is a defacto regime being organized by these kind of multi ethnic, multi national pirates among themselves. They form a sort of independent company called the brethren of the coast. That really, in effect becomes the actual in government of the island.
