The Importance of Fiscal Policy on Inflation
George W. Bush: Fiscal policy can be creating considerable inflationary pressures adding to aggregate demand. He says our setup makes it the Fed's responsibility, not the Treasury's, to do something about it. The more that Treasury is boosting demand, the more other things equal, he writes. "I think the Fed has done a pretty good job" on raising interest rates; they should have started earlier, he adds.
