Restoration Theatre - Is Gwynn an Improviser?
Gwynn excelled at the so called breeches role, where actresses playing female characters cross dressed for part of the play as a young men. The fact that she's illiterate, i wonder if she was a bit of an improviser. It's very hard, as a theatre historian to know exactly what went on on the stage and so something like improvisation is one of those big questions we don't know how much of it happened.
