The Floods in Germany - The German Government's Emergency Assistance Program
Many had insurance, were told, but not policies that covered such catastrophic damage. The federal government allocated 35 billion dollars in aid through its national solidarity fund. Many other organizations have set up their own programmes and fund raising efforts. In this the hardest hit flood region in germany, officials say at least a hundred 30 people died in the july floods. Hundreds more were injured, and a small number are still missing.
