In the current environment, it is harder and more fraud with peril than ever before. Airbnb took like nine months to hire their first person. Stripe took about that long too. Dropbox took a very, very long time. I think companies always want to hire because they think it'll make them more effective. It does give you status, but it definitely makes you less effective.
