The Importance of Symmetrical Design in Biblical Narrative
Bible scholars are noticing that very often biblical authors will organize parts of a story not in what we would think of as a linear event sequence. Rather, they'll arrange a story or a section in a symmetrical poetic sequence to make a point. So I think actually this works as a beautiful little piece here where you have David's men giving him their reasoning for why he should do what's good in his own eyes. And then you get David's actions that result from the two speeches.
