The Importance of Individual Freedom in a Liberal Community
"For me, it's all about individual freedom. Some people would thrive in a community like that," she says. "I'm not a person who likes big wars and fights ... I couldn't even imagine tearing myself away from this world." She was heartbroken when her husband refused to leave the Orthodox community he'd grown up in. The couple eventually moved to a more liberal community where they could have both worlds.
