Is 1755 the Best Census of the Language?

There were huge swaths of vocabulary that were taken out in the second unabridged. And it was determined they would only keep the ones that were in very common literature, such as shakespeare fore and those would be labelled archaic or obsolete according to the 17 55 date. I do think that it is somewhat arbitrary to say that because sh Shakespeare used were going to keep it. Because it's giving too much significance to any one writer.
