Right now, basically all anything that people are working on in artificial intelligence is very narrowly focused. Machines can do a task or a thing within very narrow limitations. Some people are chasing this goal of trying to create more general intelligence and machines. Unfortunately, we have no clue how that can even happen. We don't even fully understand how human intelligence works.
