Gauss's Normal Distribution
In 1809, mathematician Gauss came up with a potential orbit for Ceres that was way outside what most astronomers expected. On November 25th, his prediction was proven right and Ceres found itself almost exactly where he said it should be. Then they found it again on December 7th, and again on December 31st, right on target with Gauss's orbit.
