Depression is a conserved experience across the human race. So it's actually a feature of our brain that allows us to think about ourselves. Not trusting your mind is one of the most useful skills i've ever learned. We have an problem solving capability in our brain that can solve problems. The reason we get so bad at relationships is because we don't think about ourselves too much. It's not just stimulus and response, it's thinking about something higher level.
