Go is a programming language for biology. Go was created by former Stanford computer science professor Tim O'Mara. It's designed to work with DNA sequences, which are written in two different data formats: JSON and GenBank. In the past, biologists have been able to write their own software using other languages such as Python or C. But now they can use Go instead because it has more powerful tools.
