The Path to Machine Learning in the Humanities

TED Talk: I came from a background with an English PhD. My path toward using machine learning was similar in some ways to that of a number of other people in the humanities in this area, you could call digital humanities or cultural analytics. But basically, I think there was an overvaluation of coding as such and involved in that. A lot of what people were doing quantitatively was kind of naive when you got past the fact that they were using computers to do it.
