In 1800, the number of humans on Earth was 1 billion. This increased to 2.2 billion in 1950. After 1950, global human population exploded to 8 billion people who are alive today. By the end of the century, we could see populations in over 20 countries shrinking by more than 50%. The last time global population shrink was the mid-14th century during the Black Plague.
