Teaching Words Before Kids Read a Story
In traditional reading instruction, teachers often teach words before kids read a story. Kids don't really know those words when they finish with that activity,. When they meet them in the story, they're not likely to remember which word was which. Often you'll see fairly elaborate instruction of a word before a story - unnecessary at that point.
