What Is the Difference Between Hume and Reed?

Hume read a draft of the inquiry and wrote in a letter that done this was reviving innate ideas. So hume took it that read was just going backwards, back to the cambridge platonists and the innate ideas. But that wasn't at all what reed took himself to be doing, or not exactly that. He wanted to restore a direct connection between ourselves and external reality. And he did that by these common sense principles. They're innate principles, but they're precisely not innate ideas.
