Socrates Is Not Doubting That Ion Is Divinely Inspired
Socrates doesn't want to deny a divine inspiration. In fact he gives a theory of it, in the eye on you that the beautiful magnets write. The idea that god is transmitting his wisdom through these people. And so they're saying this stuff, but the point is, they don't understand what they're saying. That's all that socrates is bringing out in the ion. He's doubting that ion knows anything and can explain anything.
