i would put forward a conjecture that our modern notion of the grail may, in fact, be influenced by wolfram von eshenbach's version. And this idea that ideas about the grail were partly inspired by stories and associations about the lord's cup is supported,. for one thing, by the roots of the word grail which was not a common word in northern french. So it's reasonable to think that there is a connection here, and that these ideas may have influenced the entire mythology of the gral - but especially wolfram Von Eshenbach's story.
