Yak Shaving

Yak shaving is a term used in the sophware industry. It's all the little things you have to do before you get to work on the thing you actually wanted to do in the first place. The tools are fairly primitive and tightly coupled every time you touch something, it feels like pulling a wire out of a box of wires. And so things really take a lot longer than you expect because of that.
