Being a gay teenager in 1978 Akron was an ugly time. Anita Bryant and all of her friends are pushing the argument that if you are gay, that means that you basically are a murderer anyway. Even if they're not talking about you individually, it really hurts and it really stresses you out. So I can only imagine what it's like to have so much sympathy for Jeffrey Dommert because he seems like not a great boyfriend.
