The Effects of Peanuts on Pregnancy, Lactation, and Infancy

The Leap Study found that traditional guidance about avoiding highly antigenic foods during pregnancy, lactation and in infancy was having the opposite effect of what we intended. The study showed between four and six months is when that protein should actually be introduced to a child at high risk for peanut allergy. We don't have the same degree of evidence to support the earlier feeding of either cow milk products or of eggs.
