I was determined nobody was going to tell me how to be black. My friend Eddie Jackson was in love with an Irish American woman who was a student at Alberta's Magnus College, which the Catholic girls go up the street and I haven't. And he actually committed suicide years later because he could never live with himself for cutting loose the love of his life. So the moral of the story is that it never was one way to be blacks. Never let a bully tell you how to beblack.
