Svalbard - The Russian Northern Fleet in the Cold War?
Rammer Mansk is actually the base of the Russian Northern fleet, which was founded in 1733. It was a significant naval base throughout the Cold War but somewhat neglected post Cold War. But then interestingly enough with the advent of one Vladimir Putin to the presidency of Russia, renewed interest and money was put into the Northern Fleet. This goes in quite well with some of the other things that we're discussing really about Russia's aspirations in the north and its relationship with Norway on this border.
