OpenJDK - What Are Your Options for Choosing a JDM?
OpenJDK was the project that was created back in 2006 by some microsystems when they decided to open source Java. Azul takes OpenJDK as a starting point, but then we make significant changes in terms of how the JVM works. The other option is what we do at Azul: We run all of the TCK tests, pass everything and are drop-in replacement for OpenJDK. You can just use that and get different performance characteristics from that.
